Best Print on Demand Supplier for Leggings in 2026 (Real Costs, Panels, and the Five File Trap)

Which print on demand supplier is best for leggings? Printful if you want your base cost visible before you build and the widest size range, from a $23.88 basic legging up to a 6XL with pockets. Printify if you want a high waisted yoga cut and you're willing to build the product to see its cost. Gelato doesn't carry leggings at all, so this is a two supplier category, not a three supplier one. But the supplier is the second decision. The first is how many separate print panels your legging has, because that number is different for almost every legging in the catalog and it decides whether your artwork survives.

Why leggings break more designs than any other garment

Most print on demand products have one print area. You upload one file, it lands in one place, and the mockup tells you the truth.

Leggings don't work like that. They're cut and sewn, which means the garment is printed flat as separate panels and then stitched into a leg shape. Every panel is its own print area with its own dimensions, and the seams fall exactly where your design has to line up.

Here's the part that catches people out. "Leggings" isn't one shape. Across the suppliers we connect to, the same category contains products with one print area and products with five. Pick the wrong one after you've made the artwork and you're not adjusting a design, you're redrawing it.

Take three Printful leggings side by side:

Read those leg numbers again. The right leg is 2563 wide and the left leg is 2554. They're nine pixels apart, and they are not the same file. A design built to fill one leg exactly will be very slightly off on the other. That's small enough that you won't catch it in a thumbnail and large enough to shift a placed logo or break a pattern that was supposed to run continuously around the body.

Printify's high waisted yoga legging has five panels too, and one of them is a surprise. Alongside left leg and right leg at 2955 by 5104 and two waistbands at 2696 by 1540, there's a gusset at 624 by 532. It's the small diamond panel at the crotch seam. Almost nobody thinks about it, and if you leave it blank on a dark design you get a pale patch in the least forgiving place on the garment.

If you want the general version of this problem across every all-over print product, we wrote it up in why your all-over print design gets cut off. Leggings are the hardest case of it.

What do leggings actually cost, and where does the money leak?

These are real base production costs pulled from the live catalog, not list prices from a review site.

Legging Supplier Sizes Base cost Print panels
All-Over Print Leggings Printful XS to XL $23.88, flat across sizes 1
All-Over Print Yoga Leggings Printful XS to XL $30.12, flat across sizes 3
All-Over Print Plus Size Leggings Printful 2XL to 6XL $35.24 at 2XL, rising to $43.24 at 6XL 4
All-Over Print Leggings with Pockets Printful 2XS to 6XL $36.36 through XL, rising to $46.36 at 6XL 5
High Waisted Yoga Leggings (AOP) Printify XS to 2XL Lands on your variants when you build 5

Two things in that table matter more than the headline number.

The size ladder is steep. Above XL, Printful adds two dollars per size. A 6XL legging with pockets costs $46.36 to produce while the basic legging costs $23.88. That isn't a rounding difference, it's nearly double. Sellers who set one retail price across the whole size run are quietly funding their largest sizes out of the margin on their smallest, and on a product with this much size spread that can turn a healthy looking range into a loss on every extended size sold. Our margin first pricing method covers how to handle that without punishing plus size buyers.

Panel count is a cost you pay in time, not dollars. A five panel legging is the same price to print as a one panel legging of similar quality, but it's five files to prepare, five areas to check and five chances to get an edge wrong. If this is your first cut and sew product, the one panel legging is the honest place to start.

Why can't you see Printify's legging cost before you build it?

Because Printify doesn't publish base costs in the catalog data that connected platforms read. That's a real gap and it's worth being straight about.

It isn't hidden from you forever, though. Printify returns the real per variant cost the moment a product is created on their side, and generating a mockup does exactly that. So when you build a Printify legging through ApparelHub, the true cost for every size lands on your variants automatically as part of the build. Nobody retypes anything.

The boundary is worth stating plainly: cost arrives when you build, not when you browse. If you want to price shop fifteen Printify leggings without building any of them, that's still a job for Printify's own catalog. And it's base production cost, not shipping or tax.

Why are all-over print leggings only available in white?

Because the colour is your file, not the fabric.

Printful's all-over print leggings come in White only, at every size, across all four products above. That isn't a limitation someone forgot to fix. Sublimated cut and sew garments start as white fabric and the print supplies every pixel of colour, so a "black legging" is a legging whose file is black.

Three consequences people learn the hard way:

  1. Your file has to cover the whole panel, edge to edge. Any area you leave transparent or white comes out white. On a dark design, an unfilled edge reads as a manufacturing defect.
  2. There's no safe fallback colour. On a printed t-shirt, a design that fails still leaves you a wearable garment. On leggings, a failed file is the product.
  3. Your background colour is a design decision with real weight. It's the single biggest driver of how premium the finished legging looks, and it costs nothing to change before you build.

If your artwork came out of an image generator, read what makes a file print ready before you build, because resolution problems that are invisible on a phone screen are very visible stretched across a thigh.

Printful or Printify for leggings?

Choose Printful if you want to know your cost before committing, you need sizes beyond 2XL, or you want the one panel legging as a low risk entry into cut and sew. The size range is the strongest argument here. 2XS through 6XL on the pocket legging is a genuinely inclusive run, and very little in print on demand goes that wide.

Choose Printify if you specifically want the high waisted yoga cut, or you're already fulfilling through Printify and want to keep one supplier. Just build a sample product early so the costs land and you can price from real numbers instead of estimates.

Don't plan on Gelato for this one. Searching their catalog for leggings returns nothing on our account, so their local production advantage, which is real for posters and apparel basics, doesn't apply here. If you've read our three way supplier comparison, this is the exception to its general advice.

One more distinction that trips people up. Printify also lists brand name athletic leggings from labels like AS Colour, District, TriDri and Threadfast. Those are a different product. They're pre dyed blanks that take a printed logo in one spot, not all-over print. If you want a small chest or hip logo on a solid colour legging rather than a full pattern, that's the family you want, and the whole panel problem above disappears.

How we handle leggings at ApparelHub

We're the layer between your design and your storefronts, so leggings are a good test of what that's actually worth.

What we do: we connect to Printful, Printify and Gelato, and we don't take a cut of your print margin. When you build a legging, the print panels come from the supplier's own template data, so a five panel product asks you for five panels rather than silently accepting one file and printing a mess. Real base costs land on your variants, including the Printify ones, as part of the build. From there the same product lists to Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix and TikTok Shop, all live today, and orders route back to whichever supplier made the product.

What we don't do, said just as plainly: we don't have our own AI and we don't run an agent for you. We encapsulate the leading image models and expose the whole pipeline so that you, or the agent you already use, can drive it. We can quote a full pre order estimate covering production, shipping and tax on Printful and Gelato, but not on Printify. And we can't make a low resolution file survive being stretched across a leg panel.

If you want an agent to run this loop rather than clicking through it yourself, the Agent API, the connector and the Claude skill are all at apparelhub.ai/agents.

FAQ

How many files do I need for a pair of print on demand leggings? Between one and five, depending on which legging you pick. Printful's basic all-over print legging takes one. Its pocket version takes five, and the two leg panels are slightly different widths, so you can't reuse one file for both. Printify's high waisted yoga legging also takes five, including a small gusset panel.

Can I get black leggings in print on demand? Yes, but the black comes from your artwork. All-over print leggings are printed on white fabric, so you get a black legging by filling every panel with black rather than by choosing a colour at checkout. Leave any panel edge unfilled and it prints white.

What's a realistic retail price for print on demand leggings? Work up from the real base cost rather than down from a competitor's price. With production between about $24 and $46 depending on cut and size, and with the size ladder adding two dollars a step above XL, leggings need either size based pricing or a retail price set against your largest size. See our profit margin tracking guide for keeping that honest once orders start arriving.

Is the gusset panel really necessary? If the supplier lists it as a print area, yes. It's a small panel, but it sits on a seam where an unprinted patch is obvious against a dark design. Fill it with your background colour at minimum.

Should leggings be my first print on demand product? Probably not. They're a cut and sew garment with multiple panels, a wide size ladder and no fallback if the file is wrong. If you're starting out, a t-shirt teaches you the pipeline with one print area and a much cheaper mistake, then bring what you learn back here.

Start with one panel

If leggings are going into your range this season, build the one panel Printful legging first. It's the cheapest way to find out how your artwork behaves when it's stretched, and everything you learn about background fill and resolution transfers directly to the five panel versions.

Create a free account and build one. The catalog, the real costs and all four sales channels are there from the first product, and if you'd rather hand the whole loop to an agent, start at apparelhub.ai/agents.
